Ford has released details about the next generation Expedition full size utility FX4 off-road package. The FX4 will offer AWD, off-road shocks, skid plates, a shorter front air dam, rubber floor mats, a limited slip rear diff, and 9 inches of ground clearance. Options include a turbo 3.5L V6 capable of 470 ft lb of torque, and a 10 speed automatic transmission.
I've read articles that say the AWD Expedition will include a two speed transfer case and locking central differential.
Like all 2018 Expeditions, the FX4 will be about 300 lb lighter than the previous model because of the switch to aluminum panels in the body. The Expedition has seating for 8 in three rows of seats.
The FX4 will cost about $50k, but the cost can go much higher if you choose one of the fancy trim models.
