I am a researcher before purchaser and have looked at every single option in this segment before buying this unit. We had a down payment on a Patriot X1-H, were ready to buy a Black Series and even looked at some more expensive options in the Reconn line. This is all the Australian Design and durability without crazy wait times, shipping costs and high end expense.
The MDC XT16HR was the perfect blend of value and durability I was looking. The layout with the bunks was also a perfect solution for my family of four to be under one roof but have the ability to go way off grid and backcountry. We have loved every second with this camper and probably been out 30-35 nights total. It is extremely well kept as I'm also very OCD about my gear. Always washed and covered when not in use and comes with a very nice cover.
Specs below but things we love about this camper are the outside kitchen ergonomics with the side table. The huge fridge that never seems to get full. Drawers for each kid and wife plus hanging storage! You'd have to be in a Bruder to get that and its triple the cost. All the beds are real sprung mattresses and very comfortable. The DO35 hitch is the ONLY hitch I'll use going forward on a rig I look to purchase. It's so buttery smooth to tow and off road allows the trailer and truck to undulate over anything. The suspension is plush and actually wants to be off-road. I've followed the proper maintenance schedule with a grease gun on both suspension and hitch.
So why are we selling it?! Time, money and kids got a little too big. I'm in that dreaded (not really dreaded though!) part of life where my kids sports keep us too busy to justify having this rig. We love it and I actually have no other rig I would buy at this point but can't hold on to it for the limited amount we are able to get out at this point.
