thanks for the link but it doesn't list a snorkel for the 3rd gen 4runner unless the one for the tacoma works on it.

The Safari snorkels made for the Taco can be installed in a 3rd Gen 4runner. However, since the snorkel is designed for a 3.4L Taco, you'll need to replace your stock 4Runner air intake tube with one from a Taco. I believe the part number is still 53807-35020.

The tacoma intake tube must be used. Make sure you have a little time to do it right. THe Tacoma template will mot fit exactly fot the 4runner, as the fenders are a little different. If you have a power antenna and wish to keep it, get ready for some bloody knuckles. I have the Taco snorkel installed with my power antenna. I also have a healing scar on my knuckle from the ordeal. I can be done and it will be cool, but it will not be a cake walk.

Pretty sure Slee did it on a FZJ using a piece of pipe and a torch. I would imagine taking a pair of vise grips or using a vise heat the pipe with a propan torch lightly heat the snorkel and push them together creating an indent. If memory serves me that what they did some time ago.

The older 80 Series snorkels did take a bit of "tweaking" to fit 100% however the new design Safari Snorkel (3-4 years on the market now) fits just fine with zero tweaking needed to the snorkel body.

The Tacoma to 4Runner snorkel setup is very straightforward, as noted you can install it with the power antenna setup but in most installs a standard non-power antenna is swapped (Tundra antennas are cheap and easy for example). Similar situation with the 100 Series snorkel install, power antenna cannot be retained.

I've probably got a handful of 3rd gen 4runner install photos from installs we've done, I'll try and dig them up and post them.
