Thanks Blackdawg.
I do have a remote, I picked this up shortly after getting my camera.
Will it work for these "bulb" shots?

Se when you are in bulb mode, you push the remotes button once, time out your exposure, then push the button again?
I am only about 1/3rd of the way through my Dummies book, and have not got to the exposure chapter yet.

My lens is 18 mm at wide angle, and 135 mm at full zoom, so I take it you do not zoom at all then.
Will be fun getting some cool shots this summer when camping, as there is no light up there except for moonlight.
Usually the week I take my week long vacation the Perseids meteor shower is in full swing too.
Looks like August 12th this year, I may not be taking my trip until the end of August or first week of September.

I was happy to be able to pull off some lightning shots the first try.

yea thats pretty much the remote i have.

Yea you put your camera in 2 sec/remote fire mode and it works just like that. 1st push fires the camera and opens shutter. 2nd time closes it.

my lens is also the kit 18-135mm. You can zoom if ya want, but usually anything over 50mm isn't worth it. I haven't gotten to try my 50mm lens on it yet.

meteor shower would be awesome!

That used to be the "T" mode, with "B" you had to hold the button in. But I guess that's changed over the years, maybe to save power on an IR remote.

Yea..thats how mine works. Don't need to be pointing it at after the first push. It just stays open. I have gone and walked off and got back in my truck 30' away.

I feel like sunsets and beach stuff is the only thing I ever take pictures of... but oh well. Sunset tonight when I got home from work was amazing..

Great shot, but I'll take my view every time :)

Yeah. I think me to. After you posted, I spent about three hours updating myself on your blog, then Jessie's blog, then her photo site, then her Instagram feed. Those girls rock. And that yoga chick is very easy on the eyes too!

Yes, they're very easy company to spend time with for extended periods :) And the Yoga girl and I are already planning on doing another photoshoot for her SUP Yoga business

Katie and Jessie are sailing to the Keys to spend the winter, and they've already contacted us and asked if we'd be interested in coming down for a week or so to sail over to the Dry Tortugas on their boat with them. I mean you just CANT say no to offers like that :)

They're not trust fund girls, and this trip they're on is 100% funded from side jobs, work they do and donations people offer to them. Another reason I give them so much credit and support. I wish I had the balls enough to do this back when I was 23 years old.
