That looks tough as, mate! Any more of the front and side?

This year marks the 40th Running of the Dakar, I didn't make a post following it as it was just usually me talking to myself, so instead this year I'll just post a flash back pic of the King of the Dakar in its element in Africa!

This is what made me a fan back then, seeing the RalliArt EVOs just stomp all over Paris-Sengal rally with that landscape made me a lifer, And while I'm not a fan of the latest chassis, looks too fragile and far too much like a sport, I'd still like to see them enter the Dakar again soon, but maybe with some race-proven Nismo power plant.

A week after my 7700km trip this summer...

She gets used, does some serious outback touring.

Loving these 2 in particular, is that a modifed ARB or was it made for that chassis? Looks just right in its element, mate. I wish we got the Gen 2/3/4 SWB in the US,

So, in addition to the Darkar, which everyone here has heard of, some people still run the original route (sort of, starts in Monaco not Paris) from France to Sengal and its called the Africa ECO race in which they help out the locals in Africa, they focus on everything from water to school supplies. Its pretty amazing what happens with this rally raid and I think should get more attention from the Motorsports community, especially as they freely post their coverage, unlike Dakar which takes it down from Youtube/video sharing sites.

Anyhow, here are some pics of a shorty Gen 3 that Jean-Christophe SIBELYA entered from that Rally, this pilot is helping out with irrigation in the Darfur region:

The whole album is here.

If any of you guys are interested in watching the coverage of the 2018 rally the Youtube has some really cool highlights on their channel. Today was the last stage, too so it should all be up in the next couple hours.

Yeah, dude, its so sad how bad the coverage is after all these years if you don't live in Europe or now in S. America. (Or in my case cut the cord back in 2002.)

Its cool to see how the ECO race has embraced Social Media and upload services like Youtube to broadcast, instead of having to rely on the archaic notion of Televised exclusive contracts, but... that's what you get when you're not the target demographic.

PM me if you want more links of ongoing Dakar footage, I would post directly but I don't know how admins react to that.

Not sure what Stage you're on, and if you've been following daily, but maybe you remember my post about the Pajeros/Monteros that ran last year. Christina's Gen 4 SWB is back in this year for her 2nd running after having been the first female Spaniard to complete the Dakar in a car, and had a rather nasty roll in the dunes; but, as we all know the King of Dakar's DNA was built for this event and it carried on.

Here she is with her rig days before Stage 1:

Wishing her the best and hope to see her finish this year even better than last year!
