Was wondering if anyone with a first gen X is running 255/85 16 tires, and if so what suspension are you running and wheel specs? Is the body lift and suspension needed for the 255/85 like when running the 285/75? Any info would be great, thanks!

The 255/85 16 tires come out to be 33's 10 inches wide. Many people have fit 33x10.50X15's with no body lift a torsion bar crank and fender trimming.

285/75 is also a 33 just 11.22 wide for that I'd say you need a 2" body lift to clear.

I've run 32X11.50X15 stock with very mild trimming. Being that a 33" is just a 1/2" closer to the fender you might be able to get away with it if you remove the plastic fender panels.

Really I'd just go with the tire of your choice then mod as needed. Most people will tell you to go with a body lift if your running 33's. I say you can get away without it. Suspension lifts won't help you with clearance as once the suspension is compressed it's no better then stock.

Thanks for the response. I had thought i may get away w/o the body lift with the 255/85 due to the smaller width. Do you know the backspacing fo the wheels you are running? The wheels i am looking at running are i believe 4.5 or 4.75" BS vs the 5.5" of the stock wheels. Keep the info/suggestions comming. Thanks.

from my experiences... the lower the BS the more triming or lift involved. this is why im going back to the stock BS with my current size of 32". just too much rubbing and i want to put back on my plastic guard behind the fronts. i would like to go with the size you speak of but treadwright doesn't carry it and i went with the 235/85/16 (just need to mount on new rims) for other reasons. my current set up is 32 10.5 15 on 15x7 4.5 or 4.75 BS rims. when you do do this please post your results and pics!
