An interesting fact about Morse code. It is weighted, that is, the more frequent the use of a character the shorter the code for that character is. This makes it very efficient compared to say ASCII which uses the same number of bits for every character. The down side is trying to de-code variable length characters, easy for humans, tough for machines.
