Brisbane Truck Show

Mick, Ive said this before but I'll say it again >> It never ceases to amaze me how much quality engineeering comes out of the sleepy old Wide Bay area. I just thought it was full of retirees (present company excluded). Tilt trains, aircraft, machinery, boating, vehicles, etc, etc.

Yeah Mick, Sounds great. We're getting ready for it now. Will have a couple of trucks on display so we'll be busy for sure, but definitely drop in and catch up. Sing out if you need a place to stay in Brisvegas too. My oldies only live 10 minutes away from the ekka. There'll be so much too see. The pics will go down really well here on ExPo. Surely it must be the biggest show of it's type >>> Do you think? I don't know what else to compare it too.

BTW Good luck with the boat show on the weekend . Are you taking much down for it?

No way I can make it down. Crunch time for uni assignments again.

John.

I usually go down to the ekka for the camping show. I usually only do a day trip though otherwise I spend too much money.

Wasn't the boat show on last weekend? I don't know. I have been busy buying a new house. We don't do Sanctuary Cove show because of the huge fees the charge for a site and our target market isn't really the same as the typical boats at this show.

I've never been to Sanctuary Cove Show. When I was at Noosa Cat we only did some local shows. We were really pushing SAR and military contracts then. I think they go down now. It's more for bigger luxury boats, heh?

Can't wait to see your stuff at the camping show. Was hoping you'd be at the truck show

Mark, make sure you come and introduce yourself at the camping show. Will be at both next year but probably with MAN at the truck show rather than our own stand.

Rosco . Yeah you're probably right but I'm know the West Oz local scene is strong and there'll be some great stuff that we won't see here. Why don't you take a heap of pics and tack them onto this thread after your show? I for one would certainly appreciate them.

.

Will do;)

Well I went and was a little disappointed in the range of 4x4,6x6 and 8x8
and I couldnt get a clear shot of the MAN 8x8 with a full size drill rig on board:eek:rngartis

Generally the truck owners didnt seem to be willing to allow their trucks to be climbed into like they have in the past.
Maybe they got vandalised
There were also a few missing like OKA.
I did find a wholesaler who has offered me super cheap RYCO filters,$28 for air, fuel and oil filter with no bulk purchase required:coffeedrink:

Here's the 4x4 Isuzu and the 6x6 Scania

Thanks Rosco. That Scania sure looks like it would make a good ExPo rig.:bike_rider:

X2 The MAN 8X8 was also impressive. Hino also had a nice fire and rescue truck.
I didnt see any MOGs there but they did go to the caravan and camping show a couple of years back.

They used to hold the truck show at the Burswood Casino but now its at the Perth Exhibtion Centre and just didnt seem to have the same atmosphere.

When I win lotto,I will drop my new MAN/Scania/Hino off here

I see a lot of these taking people on tours to The Pinnacles and into the Goldfields.
Someone dropped $400000 into a 6x6 MAN last year for private use:drool:

Its hard to believe they started out making garden sheds 30 years ago:elkgrin:

Hey Rosco. Thaanks for the pics. I just saw 3 of those big 6x6 Scania's pulled up in town here a few weeks back. Mick, very similar to the Ergon trucks only bigger with very large cherry pickers on the back. Looked like they were setup to do HV tower / powerline work. Very tough but I bet they are mega dollars.

BTW our big MAN should arrive on Monday. It's already in the country. Been waiting for it since Feb. Crew cab 4x4, SRW with big offroad wheel package, hydraulic winches, custom paint, bla, bla. Someone's throwing good money at that too.

Geez, John . . . you're not attending?! How wimpy. I mean, the plane flight can't take more than, what, four days each way? :sombrero:

Given all of the pictures and useful information John has passed on to us, I hope someone going to the show will be able to help.

I'll be there for about a day and a half - I'll take pix and post what I can. I often do "commentary" for another board or two as well so I'll try and snap shots of items of interest to the overlanding community.
