285/75r16 on 7" Wheel?

Most manufactures have rim width spec of 7.5"-9" for a 285/75r16. I am considering some Cooper ST Maxx E load tires on OEM 7" steel wheels. Do you think this would be ok or will it create handling or other issues? They will be going on a 14 Tacoma DC SB.

I run a 285 70 16 on my 2010 trd. Air down to 16-20 every trip no issues.

I run 315/75/16s aired down to 12-15 psi on a 7.5" wide wheel, Nad know alot of guys running the same setup

Should be perfectly fine. If anything, the center of the tire may wear a little faster but I doubt it, as long as you run the proper inflation. If you think about it, the bead of the tire will only be squeezed in 1/4" more on each side.

Lots of guys with pinzgauers run 285 on their stock 6.5 inch rim without any issues - other than it being too much tire for the Pinz - much better on 255's.
