2 is for a gasoline engine

3 is for station wagon

1 is for 2850 wheelbase (standard 5 door)

17 is LHD

it is at least an early serial number (001084)

Somehow I think that this was nicer http://www.grautogallery.com/vehicles/1934/1982-Mercedes-Benz-GD300-Camper It was for sale here, on eBay and other places for approx $50K for several YEARS. Link shows what it went for.

I think this one was for sale in Los Angeles a year or so ago. At the time, I recall a price of $25K +/-. I think this may be a flip, as we all know "Overlanding" is the in thing and one must have a cool vehicle.

Definitely not a 1979 engine. In 79 it would have either a 616 or 617 engine.
