It's my 354400km 22re tune up time.
Symptom:
-No Code
-Excessive gas comsumption (260km for 3/4 tank over last month driving only in city at -10c to -30c)
-Excessive oil consumption (1 liter per 600-1000km, Oil rings/valve seat seal?)
-Really stinky exhaust smell (Really rich & spare tire/frame is coated in black)
-Leaking manifold/downpipe gap (one of those studs = stripped)
-Varying idle at stop light, need to give a bit gas for idle to drop back to 800-900rpm
-soaked but not dripping oil pan/rear half-moon seal
Observations from yesterday:
-Pull out the old plugs...all electrodes were pretty much gone...(explaining the 2x gas mileage consumption) White-ish looking, not coated w/ oil as expected. Plug #4 is blacker than the other 3.
-Did a compression test: 220/220/175/220 (Cyl #3 seems low)
(I'm also guess previous owner machine the new head/block, therefore resulting in a higher compression? He installed a new head at 245000km because he overheated it previously)
-Install new NGK V-Power plugs & "newer" cap/rotor back in
-Adjusted timing by ear, idle like it at 900-1000rpm
-Engine still jumps a bit. (Maybe it's missing?)
-Listen to injector via an extension bar...Injector #1 & #4 seems ticking louder than the other
-Visual inspection: the junction btwn fuel rail x injector cast aluminium area looks just a little bit wet around the matting/connection surface (Does that explain to the smell of fuel in the summer?)
Now, I'm planning to use some sort of injector cleaner in to 91octane gas. Does any one have other diagnosis / recommendation?
Injector cleaner? Seafoam?
Coming May, I will be changing (& relocating) my 100000km old fuel filter/350000km clutch/valve-clearance adjustment/oil pan seal, and hopefully a newer/better shape extra-cab from the states as a mean to solve all my mysterious electrical and rust problems.
Timing chain has been done 100000km ago, is it still good to go?
I wonder how much more mileage can i drive from this 22re from now on & why is oil disappearing?
