35's NO LIFT

so, i been thinking for a bit, that it could be possible to get some 35's on with no lift. obviously, there will be copius amounts of trimming. but i think it will be fun. pretty sure there is gonna be either spacers or specific offset wheels, but ill cross that bridge later.

i know they fit much better with a 2"BL, and i see a benefit to the fuel tank mod offroader did, but i dont like BL's, so im hesitant to do one.

whatcha think?

i really want to try and keep the factory flare, and move it up, spacing in a piece from another, but thats work! not the type i think i can handle either. but it would be cool. not sure how it would work for the rear, but i may just try it.

also, with the rear, being that the driver side is all fugly now, i may justcut all i need out and patch it back together. possibly extending the rear links to clear the tub/tire area.

so here is the why. i am faced with a small issue. the monty needs new tires. it is currently riding on 205's, stock samurai tires. i traded my 33's for some 5000 mile old style mtr 35's. for my suburban. but, i want to go tons sooner than later with the burb, so the 15" 35's wont fit then. so i was thinking, instead of buying new 33's for the montero, i could throw on the 35's.

here is the inspiration to my even wanting a montero in the first place. i believe just a 2"BL with 35's.

i think the 35's with no lift, and a proper tire to fender gap, will look **************! plus it will be super stable!

the one thing i think will be a problem is the gearing. locating some 4.9's may serve a tough task.

Not really here
I say put em on and see how it goes.... Never know till you try. You may experience something different than others here. I will say the offset of the tire needs to be 2.5 inches or around that. Or get some spacers. (that's what I did to fit 32x11.5s)

I believe offroader used 4" or 3.5" BS wheels for 35's, so ill go that route. 33 12.5 fit stock, so we will see.

I did but there is some rubbing on the back outside area of the front fenders when turning (left side rub when turning right and right side rub when turning left).

For me it's not much of an issue but 'your mileage may vary' :sombrero:

haha! yeah, with the trimming ill require, betting its not an issue.

offroader, i would really appreciate some up close tire to fender pics. so i have a better idea. i think this weekend, ill mount one up on a 4" BS wheel, and see what its looking like. will get some pics up of it too.

no progress yet. i havent fully committed to it yet. im leaning towards putting the 35's on my sami. but, they will be on 6 lug wheels, so when i get them mounted, ill put em on the monty and post pics for research purposes!

Sorry, just saw your request for pics up close. I'll try to get some in the next week. With work, usually when I see my rig it's dark (AM & PM).
