FZJ-80 noob questions.

Dino one quick question - you say 80 for sale but what year. Everyone so far is assuming its an FZJ but if its an FJ, run the other way. The 91 and 92 "80's" are FJ80's packing the anemic 3FE motor and power hungry H440 trany, non full float rear, drum rear brakes the list goes on. Great parts donors for fenders hoods etc for our FZJ's.

As an owner of both a F250 Diesel, and a few FZJ80s, I say keep the Ford for the towing and pick the 80 (if an FZJ) for the DD and expo truck. The 80 you can park anywhere, the turning radius is incredible. 80's also rock with kids.

I know this is old but bringing it back because I’ve got the same situation.

What did you end up doing?

Is the fzj80 that much smaller than the f250?

Any regrets.

I’ve been toying with selling my f250 and picking up the fzj80 but not sure of all the advantages

My f250 is an 01 with a locker in the rear on 35” tires. Titan tank, airbags, 4.30 gears.
Does fairly well on trails but does suck on turning radius. Can tow anything

Be real curious to know what you did and how it planned out. Thanks

Wheelbase is much shorter with the cruiser. Turning radius will be much improved. It will fit onto more trails than the Ford and is arguably more capable. It won't tow nearly as much as the Ford if that's important.
