Isn't a hood blackout for reducing glare from roof rack mounted lights?

Why not vent the hood and paint the vent black, two birds/one stone kind of thing.

Assuming you had under hood heat problems that might be an option but vents for the sake of vents could actually cause cooling issues and provide just a fraction of the glare prevention.

The glare on my Tacoma hood can be annoying, late afternoon on a long stretch of highway into the sun can be blinding. I'm interested to hear how it works out for you Ferg.

I will easily admit that I pretty much just think the blacked-out hoods look frikkin awesome. However, if you must know, I have sensitive eyes and I am stoked on how this is going to work out.

!) Before: Glare. (~3.00pm, driving east)
2) After: What glare? (~5:30pm, driving south)

(Ya, I know its different angles from the sun, but you can get the idea I think.)

How long did you drive around to find another school bus to compare?
Honestly both just random driving. I saw the first one reflecting off the hood and luckily had my camera sitting right by me. Then I kept it there in hopes to catch another one one day. Low and behold the next day I got the shot.

Really not hard to do though where I live. LOTS and LOTS of young families with plenty of kids.
