I wonder how you would register it in the US? the VIN on each of them shows up as European spec. I don't know how easy it would be to use the whole truck. The easiest thing would be to transplant the power train to a truck with a blowed up 3.slo.

Well, when I registered my jeep years ago it didn't have the vin plate on the body. The officer checked the vin # on the frame, and told me that's the only one that counted...

If that's true, you could transplant the body and drive train from this truck to a US yota, right?

'Course, you might have trouble when you take it in for emissions testing, and they expect a gasser.

2.4d... is that a diesel???:Wow1:

Yes. Toyota's low end deisel. If I am not mistaken, they also put the 3.0 KZTE into that model. Heard buzz from down under, they didn't like the 2.4 very much.

If you could get the title issue straight, then a KZTE swap would probably be in order. It is already a deisel, and many of the components will talk to each other. If I didn't already have plans to put my KZTE into my runner, I would seriously consider something like this as a platform. With a little power, that could be a fun truck!

EDIT: It is not very difficult to get a foreign deisel swap registered, as long as the import is legal. Laws are tightening on imports, but once it is here it isn't overly hard. I have some friend who have done conversions with Japanese deisels.

the 2.4 is notorious for crack heads. People in Oz/UK and here in Canada replace them with the 3L head.

Looks like a good project for someone. :chef:
