I am regrettably putting my 4runner project up for sale. Here is a thread with some pictures and a little bit of build up stuff http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/49086-4runner-Flippac
I purchased a flippac and am in the process of fitting it onto the 4runner in place of the original removable hard top.
At this current time, the modifications required to finish are:
Put a layer of fiberglass over the wood used to build the bulkhead/passthrough area
Repair the barn doors (of wood inside was around the door lock, and the wood on the inside was weathered)
Attach the lower door sill
Reinstall the tent. Tent is in pretty good condition, no rips or tears that I have seen. There is no torsion bar, but I was planning on doing the modifications that were discussed here
I have the interior of the 4runner completely stripped right now, to prevent as much damage from the weather and fiberglassing sessions. The original carpet was stained and oily so I threw it away, the cargo area panels were pretty bad so i kept the best one for a template, and was going to make some new ones with integrated storage. I have some eterior carpet rugs that I found at Lowes that are basically a 6'x8' roll of very automotive looking carpet I was going to use for the inside.
The 4runner is a 1985 SR5 model it has about 175k miles. (with inclinometer)
Upgrades:
Installed:
OME springs
32" Cooper Discoverer STT tires (maybe 100 miles have been put on them since I bought them)
Trail gear rock ripper 50 state header with 2 chamber flow master
The 4runner failed smog for some minor stuff (timing was off and needs a new PCV hose), but I will have it passed before the transfer. (a legitimate pass, not a hot smog)
Not installed:
4.88 gears
birfield rebuild kit
front and rear trail gear tube bumpers (low profile)
Trail gear rock sliders
The work required to get this puppy is not too difficult. I just cant seem to find the time to do it, and my family had out grown the 4runner before ever even using it. I really would have liked to finish this baby and get some use out of it, but I just cant devote the time to do it. We are trying to move, fix up our house and sell it, its just one less thing to worry about.
i'm asking $6000 obo for everything I have related to this project.
