I mounted a smittybilt X20 with synthetic rope. The load bearing structure is made of 1/4” and 5/16” steel plate. All cutting was done with uni-bit drill bits for radius and 4” Mikita angle grinder with cutting wheels. Main structure welded with 1/8” stick arc welder and the rest with .030 mig. Final paint is Raptor coat in black.

About to start my own bumper design/fab for my XJ and your results are inspiring. It looks so beefy and integrated perfectly. Nice work, thanks for sharing!

Agreed. That looks great. Well done.
Any idea of how many hours into it and materials cost?
I’m also hoping to do a bumper build.

Thanks. I spent about $130 on steel. It was all from the remnant bins at the place I buy metal. $30 on the weld on shackle mounts from Amazon. $50 on 4 inch cutoff wheels, sanding wheels and grinding wheels. So a little over $200. I probably spent about 25 to 30 hours on cutting, layout and welding. I spent a good portion of a Saturday measuring and remeasuring the front bumper area, frame ends and radiator support area and making templates out of cardboard. Oh the Raptor coat and primer were about $60.
