The uphill battle begins
The rig is a 2001 Montero Sport XLS 4wd with the 3.0L v6 & auto transmission.

Basically we had to replace the transmission on this beast when my daughter first bought it.

Story goes... The PO never serviced the trans and it had 223,000 on the original fluid and filter. Basically, they burned it up. We got the rig for $600.00 and got a new used trans for it. It was serviced and installed by a local Transmission chain (Mr Transmission) In the process, they destroyed our 4x4 shift assembly. It worked perfect at drop off. Was jammed and un movable at pick up. We returned it. They messed with it and then it came back flopping all over. The verdict: The bushings inside of it are ruined. We fought the shop on the damage, but they were shut down and out of business before we won the battle. The other chain stores would not help. So it fell back in our lap.

A forum member from 4x4wire rigged the assembly to work, in hopes that we could find a replacement in the local junk yards. 2 years and I have yet to find one. (SUV has sat most of this time)

I wonder if there is an aftermarket source to replace the bushings?

I found this on Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171388308216?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Does anyone have any ideas or parts sources?

Thank you!

I thought Jay said they had the same shifter? Either way, wouldn't the same principles apply using another Sport as the donor?
