Its actually based on the Japanese market Toyota Hilux. I'm going to go check it out this week - I'll fill everyone in. I'd say from a bit of experience driving these trucks ( non-turbo) that it may be a bit underpowered...

...But cool nonetheless!

yes please let us know...my biggest concern would be the power (or lack of...), especially in these big Rockies hills.

Can you take pictures of the inside?

cool rig. easy enough to turbo the 3L (2.8 liters) engine for more power. still might be a head problem waiting to happen! For that price a person in the US could buy a gasser 2wd and convert it to a useful motor and 4wd!

I remember a similar rig posted up here before. Did anyone figure out what those pods on the doors are for?

1993? consider it impossible to import.

Thanks Lynn, just got a reply from the owner as well, he mentioned something like "it's not admissible in the U.S. unless it's 25 y.o. or older".. so I guess it's staying in CAN for few more years...

rhd

Yep, all Japanese Hilux brought into Canada are Rignt Hand Drive from what I have ever seen! No big deal, takes 1 hour and feels like normal. my 80 series is RHD. the last 4 or 5 years driving on the right feels completely natural now.

my cruiser is RHD as well as 5 spd so I shift with my left hand. perfectly normal and takes no time at all to adjust
