5.9 liter Cummins fuel filter

First time I worked on truck. I know the procedure but my question is this: removal of filter attached to top resisted my efforts but it eventually pulled out. Putting new filter in (fleetguard upgraded filter& O-ring) were difficult to get pushed into filter canister. Is this normal to feel resistence going out & going in?

Some resistance is normal, especially removing it. Did it take quite a bit of force to remove, usually they like to pop loose suddenly and you whack something with your elbow and make a mess with diesel going everywhere. Did you lube the orings on the new filter a little, that keeps from rolling them out of place and makes them go on easier. Always make sure you get all the old orings off, I have seen some that just don't want to let go, they stay when you remove the old filter, usually the new filter won't fit with the old orings still on though.

Yes, to all except no elbow damage, but blood loss to skin missing in left middle finger. Thank you.
I go to two Cummins sites but the responce here is better because no one is saying I need to modify the truck with this & that.

Yup, resistance is normal for the CTD fuel filter... That reminds me, I think I need to replace the filter in my CTD...

Yup, it's completely normal. It's like pushing 10 square inches of liquid through a 1 square inch hole. That paired with getting it lined up and pushed in/pulled out and the somewhat tight quarters can make it a pain sometimes to get it out.
