Shower Room, Privy, etc..what do you use?

I only mentioned that it can be challenging the FIRST time you try and fold it up. After you figure it out once, its easy. The bag they give you is plenty big so you aren't trying to stuff it in. It works great for its purpose and is reasonably priced.

The video helped tremendously for me. The written intructions on the tag just weren't doing it for me.

Still don't know how you men manage to shower in the Outback, tho. Maybe I'm just claustophobic, but there's barely enough room in that thing for the porta potty. No way I can stand and shower in it comfortably.

I take the Zodi Hotman Extreme in there with me, and I find there is plenty of room.

I am thinking of getting one of those cedar boards to stand on that fold up though.
I do not like the plastic removable floor that comes with the Outback.
It pools water, and you stand in it.

Gasman, how do you have a pic of a campsite with the new rig already, you just got it!?!? You went out already, you bugger, I didn't see the thread on that!! Hahaha

We recently sold our TACO and planning our next rig...but what we used was a stand alone shower tent and a 1 gallon garden sprayer with hot water from a kettle over our stove. This worked great for us. In fact, we liked the simplicity of it so much we would not even utilize the full shower/water system in our off road trailer! We would boil some water, fill 1/2 & 1/2 hot/cold water into the sprayer, pump it up, and have a nice shower in the stall. It was nice in part because i never had to worry about winterizing anything in the trailer.

x10 on the Outback Privy. My only hope is that they would make a higher quality version for more $. Over time, the thing will fall apart and QC isn't great. But for it's low price, you can buy a new one every few years. :sombrero:

I've not used theirs, but will give it a try when the Outback dies, which will be soon. While nifty, the Outback really isn't built to hold up for more than a few seasons. The fabric along the edges is wearing where it rubs on the ground. The clear vinyl pockets on the inside are junk. And my dog very easily put his paw through the door when he came to see what I was doing in there

I've had an Ozak Trails shower room / privy and for awhile and liked it very much but thought the Outback looked so much easier to put up that I'd try one. Well it is very easy to put up but I'm not really happy with it otherwise. What I don't like about it is the floor is a seperate peice that attaches with velcro in 4 spots and it is a solid tarp type of thing. THat means it tends to collect water. Also it doesn't seal on the sides of the floor so unless you spray, expect bugs. My Ozark trails on the other hand is a PITA to put up but has a tightly woven mesh floor that leaches water and keeps the bugs out. It is also taller and straight sided so you have much more room.

Just something to think about.

FYI if you are still set on an Outback PM me; we can probably work out a deal with mine. I've only used it once.

As mentioned in post # 18 I do not like how the water pools on the removable floor of some of these types of shelters.

Been wanting a cedar deck for awhile as that eliminates the pooling problem, so I headed to Cabelas site to look at the GCI one I have seen there before.

I would still use the removable floor to keep the ground somewhat dry to put the Pett toilet back in the shelter again later after taking out the Zodi tank and decking.

I headed over to Amazon's site and they have the same GCI deck on sale right now, so I placed an order for it this morning.

The reviews look pretty positive on Amazon's site too.
I wish I'd bought this years ago. It is exactly what I needed for our tent shower (while camping) and later our RV shower. It is a sturdy cedar rack that you stand on while showering. The hardware is rust-proof and the cedar is rot-proof, so I expect I'll be using it for years. And here is the bonus - it smells GREAT! I left it in our tent shower for a week while we were camping. Every time I went in there I was met by the great smell of cedar. I would highly recommend this product.
I guess what the reviewer is trying to say is that everytime they went into the shelter to use the toilet too is that they were met with the aroma of cedar.
I can dig it :sombrero:

This is a drawback that I've noticed as well. Nasties can get in overnight so you need to do a quick check in there before you sit down on the PETT or you can get an unwelcome surprise. :Wow1:
