Shower Room, Privy, etc..what do you use?

Hey everyone, now that I got the solar shower for the lady, she is happy, but she always hints she would be happier with some kind of shower room (and we all know we have to keep the women happy). I have been looking into a privy or some sort of small privacy room but am curious what everyone uses.

I am seriously eying the outback privy (http://www.evergreen-outdoors.net/outback/porta_privy.htm) as it sets up very quickly and come down quickly. Last thing I want is another tent to setup with guy lines and poles, etc. My concern is if it is tall enough to have a solar shower setup above it.

Anyway, what does everyone use?:snorkel:

The Outback Privy is what I have used for the past two years to shower and use the Pett toilet in.

Prior to this I had the Pett shelter, I did not like it.
It bowed over in the slightest breeze, and the guylines and line keepers that came with it were slippery, pretty much useless.

The Outback Privy is a very good choice.

There is lots or room in it, and yes, you can hang a shower in it.
Has a sky roof too if you are really tall, then you can gaze out the top while you shower.

I use the Outback Porta-privy too. My selection criteria was the same as yours and it has lived up to its claims - very easy to set up and stow. I'm 6'1" so plenty of height and enough room to maneuver inside.

I use the Outback, too, but only as a potty room. Being a girl of 5'10" with long hair, I need more room to comfortably shower. On big trips where I'm bringing lots of gear, I use a Cabela's shower shelter and Zodi Instant Hot. When keeping gear to a minimum, I'm fine with a solar bag and a tree :)

It still takes me a bit to fold it away.
Sometimes I twist it the wrong way and it looks all jumbled up, then I will trey it again and I get it perfect.

Never has it taken more than a few times though to fold it up.

The first time I set it up though it was a little hard.
Little trick to grabbing the middle by the door and yanking it out to pop it open.

the pop up showers are cool , for the longer stays i have one of the larger showers, it takes 5-10 mins to set up , definatly not the fastest, but

its nice !! when its cold i put the heater in there for 5 mins or so, and we use a weed sprayer and boil water on the fire ,
lots and lots of room,, more than big enough for two,

the pop up showers take up way less room, as well as the wieght savings, the only time i bring a shower along though is when the girls are there,

X5 on the Outback. It is bigger than you might think (I am 6' 1") and sets up literally in an instant. When you get it, spend some time to figure out how to fold it back up. The first time can be challenging. It is a great quick shelter/enclosure.

Great idea on the pressurized weed sprayer....

I have the outback and love the setup time as others have mentioned. However, to provide a balanced opinion, there are two things I hate about it though.

  1. The clear inner pouches are garbage. I've only used it about half a dozen times and the plastic seams have torn down the sides of both of them. They should have made the pouches with the fabric the tent itself is made out of.
  2. This tent really, really, really needs a fly. There's nothing to keep rain from coming in the mesh windows, and if there's morning dew, condensation will be dripping on you from the ceiling and walls. No big deal if you are using it as a shower, but as a toilet room, at crack of dawn, when your wife or kids are on the PETT, they aren't going to want to get soaked.

I think I'm going to have some kind of fly made for my outback. near military bases, there are always GI tailors that make a business out of modifying rucksacks and other nylon/fabric items to a soldier's needs. If I give them a template, I can have that done for not much money. that will solve my problem.

To help those challenged at getting it back to the original nice circle, search you tube for it and there are at least 2-3 or more short videos on how to do it. Also the original manufacturer's site has a short video as well.:costumed-smiley-007
