We all know how useful a tarp can be in the boonies. This page lays out quite a few different ways to use a tarp to make shelter. Some origami involved in a few and I imagine it would help if one knew how to tie a few different knots.
This page caught my attention a few years ago (think it's the same one) because of the numerous designs, rated for best wind resistance, better for rain, heat, etc. Different designs with flaps for doors, fully enclosed or not, etc. Australian link, tarp gods. Anyway, check it out.
