So take a $1500 van....

Want the 4wd conversion, 6"lift, 35s, basic shocks, no lockers, no bumpers, and a general going through to check for weak/worn out components. Do you have a ready made kit for the steering and driveshafts?

Under $10Gs?

Just thinking a bit.

If you give Chris a call, he will do an itemized estimate for you. This really helped me figure out what I really needed (and could afford). My van is at his shop right now getting the 4wd conversion. I think you'll find he's very helpful and knowledgable. Second thought, might be better to email your specifics. . .he is awfully busy!

If you're crafty with sourcing the big parts like the axle & t-case and do all of the work yourself 10k is close for a turn key swap. We have steering kits, don't do driveshafts unless we're building the van here.

Chris, I see you installed a kenwood head unit in vanaconda. Did you like it? How was the install? Any other old pics other than the trip computer shot from your trip out west?

I liked it, one mistake I made was cramming a double DIN head unit in there when it should have been a DIN.5. Loved the unit though, have another Kenwood in V5.

Every van I see on the side of the road is beat, that is a score. So neat to see the vision become real. Nice rig.

I have a Kenwood double din and I would trade it out for an Alpine in heartbeat. The double din fits but is a pain to remove the dash bezel when thoroughly cleaning.

The kenwood has all the settings that I use buried too deep and when accessing it is very slow and sluggish. like a computer ready to crash.

On the ground! V10, 4" lift on 265's. Off to exhaust now, then fuel tank and shafts, ready to roll.

I know this is not a stereo review page, but I have a Kenwood Excelon DNX9140 in my Toyota Sequoia SUV, and Toolman is right...the menu sucks. Things are not where they should be, it takes forever (and the instruction manual) to find anything, and making adjustments while driving is impossible. If I want to change the volume of the navigation voice on the GPS side, I have to come out of there and go into the audio side, then scroll through about six levels of the menu to find and make the adjustment. Then go back to the navigation side to see the map. If it's still not right (no indicator until it speaks), start all over.

On the other hand, installation was a snap, and it sounds great once you finally get it adjusted. I'm planning on pulling it out of the Toyota, putting the factory JBL back in there, and installing it in the back of my ambo/camper trailer build. The GPS won't be of much use, but the video player, CD/DVD, camera inputs, external monitor outputs, etc. will be very useful.

Would you mind posting pics of the exhaust mods, y pipe and re-routing?

Also, regarding the box to Idaho: Already? I thought I was providing my own axles? ;)

Amen brother! I put a DD Kenwood in my van. It's an easy install but it's a PIA to operate. And slow like you said! There has to be something better out there....

The kenwood has all the settings that I use buried too deep and when accessing it is very slow and sluggish. like a computer ready to crash.

I've had great success with Pioneer for easy to use interfaces. I have an AVH2600BT with a back-up camera for just under $250. No navigation (I prefer paper maps), but it's a great little radio otherwise.

Hijack complete? Back to the regular scheduled programming?

+1 on Pioneer. I have a Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS that has worked great for me we added backup camera. Easy to setup and the systems setting are simple.

I forgot to hijack this thread all the way..

I can't see the screen on my Kenwood DD with my polarized lens on. Literally have to take sunglasses off to see menu, pretty nice while driving into the sun. Mostly stays turned off. Not to mention the sirius satelite radio feature was an additional cost and sounds worse than am radio and drops out going under over passes. No No NO more paying for that service either.

back on track now.
But my UJOINT 4 wheel drive conversion keeps on rocking. :smiley_drive:
