Chris, I'm assuming your axle rebuilds are rattle canned after thorough cleaning/rebuilding, no? If so, do you have a brand/type that you prefer?

On an unrelated note, I'm sure a lot of you guys noticed this submission on ExPo on your way to this forum but if not, have a read. https://expeditionportal.com/westx1000-the-trials-tribulations-of-a-millennial-nomad/

We all love a little van/road trip porn but are acutely aware that the #vanlife Instasphere images represent a very small fraction of that whole lifestyle. This is one of the first essays I've seen that are bravely honest about the realities of it all. Its a well written and totally relatable read.

Hijack over.

After blasting, gears/bearing/posi are installed we primer the axle then paint with a semi flat black. Haven't seen that article, will try to find some time to read.

That article I can not relate to.
I have more, do more, save more, work more, eat better, enjoy more...
that must be a poorly prepared vanner described in the writing.
3 years full time van life solid for me, but many years before when I had a beautiful apt in SC I just do van stuff for the heck of it, but sometimes for work out of state.

Anyone who has a bad/poor experience didn't take the time to plan and execute worth a hoot.

I can confirm that Rob eats, smells and sleeps very well!

Chris, don't let that guy fool you, that's an old trick for taking a nap on the job!

You get on the creeper and roll it under the center of the vehicle, and then tie your hands up high so it looks like you're working on something, and snooze away! :agree:

Okey doke....guess i stand corrected.

Thanks for the paint advice Chris. Had a front receiver welded to the hangars and want to get ahead of it before I head out next week.

I was too busy talking during the VLR so thankfully others got good pics of our stuff!

New arrival! V10 from SoCal getting a MASSIVE transformation. 08/up clip swap, paint, rack, bumpers, all of the goodies. I'm stoked about how it will look when done. Since it was a Sunday delivery I took the boys around and around the parking lot in the Willys while the driver unloaded. They love it.

When my wife saw the white van in person she asked, "Is that what yours is gonna look like?". I said "yup". She was like, that's awesome.
