Parking brake handle ideas needed

I found a source for cheap military handles:

and the design would work quite well on my trailer, mounted in front of the gas can (sorry for the large image):

But I have to admit the handle looks shabby. Any ideas on better looking aftermarket units or even some pics so I could design and build my own? Maybe buy one of the military ones and get it plated?

Thanks.

Google "Surplus Center" and see if they have something you could use. They typically have a large assortment of bits like that.

They're not as "shabby" as the photo makes them seem. For example, the cable length is adjusted by twisting the handle a very useful feature since the brake cable WILL stretch. Also, since the cable is sort of exposed, when it inevitably slips off the cam wheel you can get to it to put it back on.

Mounted low, at the level of the bottom of the frame, which is where they need to be for cable clearence anyway, they aren't too obtrusive, at least imo.

I have two M101's and they have two brakes apiece. Then again, the M101's are pretty large trailers so the handle may appear more obtrusive on a smaller trailer...

EDIT: They point skyward when the trailer is parked and the brakes set, that may be why they aren't obtrusive.

I was pretty disappointed when I asked what I use for a lever and cables for my new Dexter axle and they basically told me to make my own and Dexter does not have any solution. I think a little ratcheting sort of handle would be nice.
