5x8 trailer option vs 4x8

Hi,

Looking to build a simple trailer to pull behind our Ford Escape and put our roof top tent on it. A 5x8 trailer just came up in our area for a good price. This whole time I was hunting for 4x8 or 4x6. Any opinions on if this would be a little over kill for this kind of project? Trying to keep things simple.

I don't think there's any negative, until you get wider than the TV

and unless beating BLM trails, that's just a matter of tow-driving skill, taking care to remain mindful.

5x8 = more stable than a 4x8.

Go with the 5x8 thats available and a good deal. You'll appreciate the space more than you'll hate the extra trailer size... and you can get started on the project sooner!
