Yes, the Packard plant. I prob have 1,000 shots of that place - most are throw-a-ways, but I've spent many hours in and around there.
The fake recovery has prompted folks to throw fake money at old buildings, so things are not how they were a few short years ago. Lol, the Packard plant now has security guards - as do the rest... Nothing lasts forever, and this certainly won't last much longer.

I may have mentioned the site before but have you ever checked out Nailhed's website? I plan trips around some of his stuff. I did find it kinda neat that I somehow managed to have been a couple places he hadn't been or missed. We have been exchanging info for a while now. He does torough research to go with the photos and stories. A lot of stuff down your way on there too. http://www.nailhed.com/

Better than that, he knows how to write

"Finally shaking off the disgraceful amateurishness of our mount, we passed the base of the titanic foundation and arrived shortly at the top, greeted to a beautiful leafy panorama and the poetically stoic, ruined flywheel of what could have been the Athens Mine’s powerhouse, basking in the sun and balmy breezes of this scenic height."

Recent trip to Death Valley, stopped by the Ghost Town of Rhyolite.

Rhyolite, the "Queen City", was the largest town in the Death Valley area with a population of 5,000-10,000 people. During its heyday, from 1905-1911, it contained 2 churches, 50 saloons, 18 stores, 2 undertakers, 19 lodging houses, 8 doctors, 2 dentists, a stock exchange and an opera. The town contains numerous ruins including the Bottle House, Senator W.A. Clark's train depot, remains of a 3-story bank building, and the jail. It is on BLM land and is accessible by passenger car. Rhyolite is located 4 miles west of Beatty and 35 miles from the Furnace Creek Visitor Center.
