Super Siphon Damaging the liner in Nato Cans?

I have used a super siphon for 2 years with my nato cans and recently got to thinking while it was rattling along filling my gas tank that I wonder if the metal end of the super siphon is damaging the liner in the nato cans? I have seen older nato cans that were rusty but has anyone had any problems with the siphon end damaging the liner and leading to rust?

I noticed the same thing. Slipped a piece of hose over the metal end and problem solved.
