SDHQ, shop is based out of Phoenix, Arizona.

Single leaf is for mock-up purposes I assume. I believe they are getting custom Deavers. Spied help for the front suspension...as well.

You'd think they'd try something a little more normal in the rear. Just knock a hole in the bed and mount a frame loop like the race trucks have. Interesting design. Were they trying to avoid holes in the bed on purpose?, or is that setup really optimal?

Probably trying to keep the bed usable.

id say they're trying to keep the bed unmodified. but its not a new idea, Kamaz uses a similar design on the front suspension of their truck

Two reasons: keep the shocks under the bed so the bed is undisturbed and also maximizing the efficiency of the shock.
