7 Pin Connector help, Tired of my food swimming!

Hey guys, I'm in the constant build up of my field rig since I live and work out of it all year, for the past years.

Anyway I'm planning on throwing in an Engel Fridge soon, or another brand, pending the funds. I was thinking of doing a solar setup, but since I am driving pretty often, I believe that a 7 pen would be able to charge my marine batteries up enough to work the fridge. Basically I am wondering how you guys were tapping into the 7 pin on the truck. I'm tired of my food swimming all the time!

Any help, comments or suggestions?!!?!?

It sounds like you truck already has a 7pin rv plug.

well, let me ask this where do you plan to carry the cooler? I use a large Igloo powered cooler that plugs into a cig. lighter. I ran two cig. plugs off a dedicated fuse block into the bed of my pickup under my topper, I can then plug anything into them that I want. When the truck is running there is constant power, when the truck is off the fluse block is unpowered (that will be changing in the next year or so).

I just finished wiring mine up to run off the 7-pin this weekend. I put a 7-pin in the front corner of the box http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/62135-06-GMC-K2500-Buildup/page2so the wiring wouldn't be hanging out the back... Currently, it's connected all the time, but I'm going to put a relay on the 12v battery feed in the truck so when I shut the truck off, it will disconnect. That way I can't run the truck battery down with loads in the camper, or due to batteries "fighting" when the truck is parked for extended periods. (Actually, I'm putting it on a switch too, so it can be off most of the time to prevent corroding the terminals.)

What kind of truck? Most trucks (domestic as least) are set up to truely haul or pull something, so they expect the power feed from the 7 pin to actually power a trailer/rv etc.

I power my Waeco from my 7 pin also. Works like a charm and no problems starting the truck in the morning.
