We thought this was going to be the ultimate adventure rig, but alas, after much soul-searching and intense discussion, we're going back to the van life. Mainly because the camper lacks enough storage space to swallow all the stuff we bring on trips to ski, climb, or mountain bike (or all 3) without hauling a trailer, and it's decent enough inside that we hesitate to tear things apart to build more customized storage. The whole setup is a little bit heavy, too, though we expected that from the Alaskan it's just not quite the right fit for us. It's also nice to be able to discreetly park just about anywhere and sleep for a night--hard to do with a pop up camper. The truck needs to go as well to fund the purchase of the van.

The Alaskan we've had since March this year and it's been on a few trips and had no issues. It's been fun having it, no doubt, and a really cool camper. We bought it in Ventura and as far as I know has been in southern California for its entire existence. Most of the interior is in excellent condition and the exterior is faded but has no major dents or damage. The upholstery and stove look like new. We never used the sink or turned the fridge on, though they both work (not used to such luxuries). The furnace also works very well. It's fine for camping as is but for winter trips could use a little bit of work.

The truck was my boyfriend's work truck for a long time until it wasn't needed for work any longer and it became camper-mobile. He is a diesel mechanic by trade and he rebuilt the 6.9 diesel this winter which now has 6000 miles. ZF5 5 speed transmission, Dana 60 straight axle, new radiator, tie rods, drag link, steering gear box, rear drive line new last year with transmission swap. Cosmetically a little rough inside and out, but mechanically very solid and it just keeps going and going. He would not be selling it if he didn't have to because it has been so reliable.

Both together asking $6000 OBO, would like to not split them up but if it has to happen...we will negotiate.
Almost positive that we have found the van already BUT if anybody has a diesel 4x4 van we might be interested in trading.
