Best to my recollection the motor was similar in the early versions, but the later Jeeps were watercooled. Probably water buffalo technology adapted to a smaller engine.

I learned to drive on one of these when I was 13. Top speed of 55 mph, would fit in the bed of a full size truck, cool jeeps.

I currently have 3 of these little buggers. SteveC is the moderator of that forum and is a member here, but I don't know if he is very active here. We just had our annual meet in the Blackhills of SD. Hearing the little 2 strokes run is pretty cool.

Stock they are almost identical in size of a Jeep Willy's, but weigh much less.
1972 Suzuki LJ20V 4x4
weighs at 1,378 pounds (625 kg),
length is 125.8 inches (3,195 mm),

They fit in the back of a long bed pickup.

By the way $2,800 is on the high end.

Here is my modified LJ20 open top project. I've also got a resotoration project on the back burner. You may have to register to see pics, not sure.

I nearly bought one several years ago but the lack of speed and parts availability held me off. The soft top model I test drove got up to about 40 and sounded like a pissed off weed wacker. I have a pretty cool VHS tape called the History of the Jimny (all in Japanese) tracing the histoy of the Suzuki

Wow awesome jpg!! That yellow one in the background looks like its made for a 12" action figure:sombrero:

They look fun as hell. If I had a ranch or lived in the country I would be all over one of these. I would imagine finding parts for these wouldn't be easy.

I brought one of those back from montana back in 2007. It fit in an enclosed uhaul trailer, and only brought the weight up about 1000lbs..haha!

I worked on it for a while, repainted it, but just couldn't source a replacement motor, and ended up selling it for a hefty profit...since I got it for free. :D
