I have a 77 CJ7 that I have owned since the early 80's. It has sat covered up for years and needs a carb rebuild to get back on the road. It also has no brakes, not sure if the master cylinder is bad (I have a new master cylinder in the box somewhere). This CJ has the three speed trans and 304 V8 with all smog parts intact. This CJ is stock and unmolested except for a repaint, a model 44 has been installed to replace the stock AMC 20 (when I replaced the AMC 20 there were no one piece axles available to replace the stock two piece axles). the dashboard was replaced with a newer dash that I had chromed (I still have the original dash). I also added a 2" add a leaf to the stock springs to get a little more ground clearance and to run 33" tires. I ran a Detroit Locker for many years in this CJ when it was my daily driver but finally tired of the brutal locker and took it out to replace it with a limited slip of some kind. I went through the engine when it had around 60k on it and the odometer is showing around 100k now.
I am going to retire next month and I need to free up the room that the Jeep takes in my covered side yard. Would I be better off fixing the small problems to get the maximum amount the Jeep would be worth or sell it as is? What are clean unmolested CJ's of that vintage going for now? Are the older CJ's in demand?
