80 Price Point

Any idea what a stock 80 with 100k miles should cost? I have no idea...I have seen the 100s dropping in price...Should I consider it? Or, should I spend a little more and grab a 100 series.

Thanks much, Mike

PS Anyone out there live in Texas that might be interested in checking out one for me? I am in Utah...

What year/condition. I bought my 97 40th & lockers with 140k on it two years ago for close to $10k. I saw another one almost identical a few months ago for $8500.

If the rest of the rig reflects the mileage and the service records are current, I'd go for it.

I'd take an 80 over a 100 any day, though.

How much is the asking price? Lockers?

If it helps I picked up a '97 collectors edition with lockers, 117k 3 months ago for $8100.

Only real issue was a rear corner ding - Quick trip to the body shop fixed that.

Just got back from putting about 1000 miles on it touring Oregon - damn comfortable rig.

Having just shopped for one and bought a 97' 40th as well, that is a good price especially if the head gasket and front axle have been done.

So i paid $10k two years ago with 40k more miles. I'd probably pony $10k for it. It's not like they make them anymore and with 100k miles on it, it is still a spring chicken. The 93 I bought years ago had 200k miles on it and I put another 80k on it with only a few small issues. See if he'll take $4500 off and give him a clunker in trade:sombrero:

Having just bought an 80, I'd say don't ignore one just because it needs the birfs (or HG for that matter) done. I actually decided to go the opposite route. I looked for one that needed either the HG or the birfs to be done. I just picked up a really nicely loaded up 95 (lockers, 35" MTR's, OME J's, HID light/wire harness upgrade, skid plates, Hanna sliders, ARB bumper, Warn M12000, etc) with 155,000 for $6,500 because it needed the birfs done (and the seats are shot, but what are you gonna do). I spent $1,100 on the Brifs but still came out WAY ahead on price. Low price coupled with the fact that I know it will be a long time before the front axle needs any attention made it a great buy in for me. You could pay more for one that doesn't need the birfs done now, but might in a year.

Just my thoughts

I have a 97, with 147,000, collectors edition, with lockers, HG was replace about 5k ago, 3rd row seats, one little rust spot above windshield (paint starting bubble), I am looking to sell. I am in suburb of Chicago, but was a Colorado car up until last year and I did not drive last winter.
If anyone is interested, please let me know

I paid $4K for my 96 with lockers, higher miles around 180k but runs better than the wife's almost new lexus RX350 and the only thing in bad shape is the front seats. I don't want to sound crazy but an 80 in almost any condition is a good buy especially if you can do a lot of the work yourself. She still wants a newer 100 series Landcruiser though.
