Here is my 1977 FJ40 (now sold)

I drove it for five years while my wife finished her business degree. Never failed me and I sold it for more than I paid for it. Did a few modifications, like a LockRight in the rear and an 8,000# Warn on a Man-A-Fre bumper. Also installed a CCOT air conditioning system.

We have owned this for about 9 years. Its been 1 year since the restoration. My first car in high school was an 74 FJ40.
2,000 miles
Its hard to pick my favorite mod. I think I like that it drives like new. Very comfortable and smooth.
So far its been used for a few trips to the San Juan Mountains. Trail riding. Overland trips to come.
We love the truck and now its time to start a new build. We are thinking an 80 series.

1. 1969 FJ40, Spring green,
2. Ryan Apple/hairy_apple
3. I bought it in Feb of 2002 when I was 16. It was my first and only FJ40, but I also have 2 FJ55s
4. The speed-o-meter has never worked, so I have no idea mileage then or now.
5. Favorite mods, Power steering and disks brakes. Least favorite, the V8.. going to go to a 3FE soon.
6. I use it for camping, wheeling, and hoping to take her on some long overland type trips in the future.
7. Life is better at 55.... haha. FJ40s aren't for everyone. But I love my cruiser. I know every rattle, clunk, and vibration.

My then-NEW 1968 40

A friend just sent me this photo he took almost 48 years ago of me in my then-new 1968 rig. Ah, good memories.
This is an area that is now known as Thousand Oaks, CA. All streets, neighbors and generally paved over.
What I would give to have had the sense to keep the 'Cruiser.
