82 Jeep Scrambler Laredo

Well, I never thought this day would come but here it goes.
For sale is an 82 Jeep Scrambler Laredo. Let me first describe the Jeep with what has NOT been upgraded and modified that would be the body and the wiring, everything else has been improved from stock. I’ll go into description with the whole vehicle but the goal was never to build this to sell, so it’s not a bling or car shows truck. When I bought is in 1999 I wanted an all purpose rig that could do everything, drive the long trips on the highway at 65mph, cruise the dunes, rock crawl, have room for camping and do all this reliably. I also didn’t want a hacked rock crawler, I wanted to maintain most of the original “Jeep CJ” characteristics and more specifically accessories unique to the Scrambler. You’ll see parts of this Scrambler you probably have never seen in combination before.
Frame – is an aftermarket Throttle Down Kustoms galvanized Jeep Scrambler frame
Front Axle – is a Dana 44 from a 74 J20 narrowed 4.5” converted to 5 lug with Dodge hub assembly and rotors with a Detroit NoSpin Locker and 4.56 gears
Rear Axle – is a Dana 60-2 from a 73 J4000 that was narrowed 6” with 35 spline 1.5” shafts, disk brake conversion, a Detroit NoSpin Locker and 4.56 gears
Suspension – is a spring over with 2.5” Wrangler Springs with Rancho 9012 adjustable shocks up front, Ford F150 Shock towers
Tires and rims – 37 x 12.50 x 15 Goodyear MTRs on American Racing AR 767 (spare has side wall slice)
Motor – AMC 360 from a 78 J10 with approx 80k miles (Jeep has 102k miles), hi-flow water pump, high output 105 amp alternator, TFI upgrade, MC 2100, 3 core radiator, MORE Motor Mounts, dual 2 ¼” exhaust
Transmission – Ford 2wd T18 with advance adapter to Dana 300, heavy duty clutch
Transfer Case – Dana 300 with Tera 4:1 low range (final 115:1 low) and rear CV driveshaft
Steering – high clearance, cross-over steering linkage from a FSJ with Shaker Built arms, custom pitman arm, 2 steering braces and power steering cooler
Brakes – 4 wheel disc brakes with, adjustable brake rod and 4 wheel disc master cylinder from a firebird
Recovery – Warn XD9000 winch with dual batteries and Painless Wiring Isolator
Offroad Accessories –York on-board air with J&L Bumper, 3 gallon air tank, swing tire carrier and receiver hitch. Power inverter to run small power tools, CB, half cab roll cage
Original Jeep/Scrambler Accessories – nutmeg tonneau cover (made to use tracks from the full soft top), wood rails, nutmeg Kayline ½ Soft Top. This thing comes with 3 sets of doors, half steel doors (pictured) with 2 sets of tan uppers, the original full canvas doors in nutmeg and full steel doors with the Laredo inner panels also in nutmeg. Also comes with a full Kayline soft top in tan with matching upper skins for half doors. Has the original Jeep AM/FM radio (not installed) and CJ back seat.
I might have forgotten some things and I’ll be sure to update when I remember.

It runs great but it is a truck, it’s big and tops out at about 65 mph. If you buy it, be ready to talk to people where ever you go.

I’m asking $8000

Also you can check out the build on the website www.panther4x4.com/Scrambler

Just...Damn.

Man,
Where was THIS when I was looking 3 months ago!?! I'd of happily given the extra grand over what I paid for mine for yours! GrumbleGrumbleGrump~!
Nice 8...really nice.
Did you have to trim at all to clear the 37s? I would imagine with the 2"YJ springs you didn't but I'm curious. This is about the route I'm going with mine.

I'd say MPG is about 9. I don't do many long trips to calculate it more accurately but that the best I can figure.

Tires clear fine. This thing has a phenomenal turning radius. The only time there is any rubbing is at complete stuff with wheel the turned all the way to the right or left, there's rubbing on the back of the wheel well. The TJ flares also help with clearance.

jeepdreamer, 3 months ago I told you I was selling this (I'm Panther on cj-8), you could have saved thousands. I have about 20k invested to get to this point. I have folder of receipts is a half inch thick.

The asking price covers what I have into the frame, axles, tranny and tcase alone.
If you're thinking about doing a similar build, it's best to pick up something like this as the seller has done the spending.
Nevermind the work but I think the receipts add up to 20k.
