Ruined Adventures

A correspondent for the NY Times takes an adventurous drive from Antigua, Guatemala, to a sacred Mayan waterfall called Semuc Champey.

I wish we would have rented a car for that drive...between Lanquin and Semuc Champey, that road annihilated a ball joint and our idler arm.

Semuc Champey truly is a magical place, although I wouldn't really say that few tourists go there.

Enjoying The Journey
It sure is a beautiful place. But like you said, lots of tourists go there and there are plenty of 2WD trucks with a dozen people in the bed going up and down that dirt road. It was fast and fun for me on the motorcycle.
