Edit: Now asking $4250
Rig Description:
87 Ford e-250 (3rd gen) Econoline van, regular body
33″ x 12.5″ inch tires, 8 lug 16″ rims (with < 9k miles on tires)
6 to 8 inch suspension lift (not really sure)
Ford's 4th gen 300cu Straight 6 EFI engine (heavy on torque, used in tractors and dump trucks)
4×4 with Warn locking hubs, p205 transfer case, and 4:11 gears (have original paperwork)
1 ton rear axle (Dana 60 posi) and 3/4 ton front axle (Dana 44)
3 speed C-6 automatic transmission with a shift kit installed
Class 3 rear receiver attached to the stock bumper
Dual gas tanks (about 40 gallons total I believe)
2 removable rear bench seats
New exhaust system just passed CO emissions.
Condition:
Engine runs great. It leaks some oil. In a 1500 mile drive, I lost half a quart. Not a whole helluva lot of power (it's a 6 banger) but good gas mileage and the i6 is supposed to be loaded with torque.
4x4 system works. Front driveshaft has some play, should be rebuilt.
Drive train is the weakest link (being punny). Rear diff and xfer case need to be rebuilt before too long. Seals leak and bearings might not be in such good shape.
Body is solid. There's rusty spots, but no rust damage. There are dents, but nothing major. Paint sucks. A new coat of paint would go a long long long way.
Interior is stripped. There's not a whole lot going on inside. The walls and floors are mostly bare in anticipation of a camper build out. Lights work, radio works, heater works, was told the A/C works but haven't driven it on a warm day yet. Probably needs a charge.
Reason for Selling:
I bought the rig as a camper project. I don't have a proper shop to do the drivetrain work and having it done professional is pretty expensive. The engine is strong, but not fast. I'd kinda like a turbodiesel for the mountains here. It's also surprisingly hard to find a pop-top camper top for a van of this age. Hard tops are easy to find, but I really want a pop-top. And, honestly, I'm losing a lot of inspiration for this project altogether.
