I've got a low mile A/T apparently from a 89 V6 Raider (AW 03-72) and want to know if it is compatible with my 89 LWB Montero V6 AT(KM148).

Here's the Aisin webpage referencing all 3 A/T's which seem to be the same but IDK.

found this sticker on top of the transmission and started rubbing the dirt off (and with it, off came a few of the digits LOL) went to mitsubishipartswarehouse to cross reference it with the transmission for the 1989 V6 and the full number is MD733481.
so, it appears that the 03-72 is the same as the KM148 (so far).
apparently, this transmission has been sitting on a wreckers shelf since august 24, 1993 and had 58,958 miles when removed. (they even provided some paperwork that seems legit)
hopefully it's not damaged from whatever caused that rig to go to the wreckers in the first place.

I had a Raider, it went to the salvage yard because the floor was falling out, real rust buckets, the tranny should be fine, clean it paint it, check it, flush it, install it, if the rest of the car is solid. ;)

yeah, this is my thinking too.
although, i have doubts that the donor raider had rusted that badly at 4 years old when it went to the wreckers :) in 1993.
my montero is 'patina mint' as i call it... lots of scratched paint but since it's been oil sprayed since i brought it home in 1999 and hardly winter driven the underneath is rust free.

Same, if you want a Locking Torque Converter model AW 03-72L, I have one out and available. (Milwaukee, WI) & cheap.

Old thread, but I thought all 3. 0 v6 transmissions were all lock up? The aw 03-72 was not, and used in the 4 cylinder? I'm poking around for a lockup trans
