HAM Operators- Post up here

I procrastanated for 40+ years, and finally studied for and took/passed the Technical cert.

I'm running a Yaesu FTM-400XDR (2m/70cm) mobile, and a Yaesu FT5D (2m/70cm) handheld.

I'm running a Comit SSB-7 mounted to my driver's side cowl, seems to be holding up on offroad trips so far.

I have the faceplate mounted to a Lido Radio L-Max bracket, under my GMRS face plate (*).

This weekend I'm planning on mounting the two radio bodies under the Driver's seat.

Details are on my blog (Aug 14 post), URL is in my sig.

(*) I won't open the can of worms on Mars Mod'ing my Ham radio, this is why my GRMS is also mounted. :)

Got my general class amateur radio license a couple months back and also do GMRS. I have several handhelds, including a Yaesu FT-5DR. Trying to figure out what to put in the new Jeep. Leaning towards a GMRS with ability to listen in on frequencies outside of GMRS.
