93 RRC with auto transmission issues...

I have a 93 RRC with a 300Tdi in it and am having some automatic transmission issues. It does not want to shift into reverse. I have to put it in reverse and then rev the motor some to get it to actually engage. Sometimes I can just jiggle the shift lever but it seems to getting worse. The transmission also jumps some while idling along. It feels like it gets between two gears. The fluid is to the right level and looks super clean on the dipstick.

If I do need to have this worked on would it be better to take it to a real Rover mechanic (which is about 60 miles away from me) or can I take to a local Automatic transmission place.

I did the test of putting it through the gears and revving the motor so see if there is any slipping and it would only go to about 1200-1300 rpm before it really grabbed. The test on Rangerovers.net said if it didn't go above 2000 it was OK.

thanks advice,
Craig
