94 2-door Yukon build....

We picked up a 1994 4x4 2 door GMC Yukon about 2 months ago. My wife bought it for me to build a hunting/exploration rig. It was a 1 owner vehicle that was owned by an older lady. So even though it has 205K it is in excellent condition.

What I plan to do and what has been done........
Windows were immediately tinted, living in Arizona it is a requirement!
I then picked up a set of 2018 Silverado wheels with 275/70/18 General Grabber AT2 tires for $520!!! Painted them satin black.
One of the most important things I needed to do was to move the spare from inside of the Yukon. So I decided to try and tackle a rear tire carrier myself.
Installed 2" lift blocks in the rear & cranked torsion gars in the front. Rancho 5000's all around.
Picked up a brush guard, also painted it with bedliner.
I started to build a roof rack. 1" square tubing, 80"x50".
I may build a side ladder also.
I will try and build some custom sliders with side steps.
ARB awning.
Rear drawers with sliding cargo top, that will also be used as a platform for my wife & I to sleep on.

I will post pics.

Here are some pics of the tire carrier I am building. Don’t judge to hard, I just started welding about 2 months ago and have only welded about 6 times in those 2 months. I took a couple pics of my unpainted welds. I think they look decent, a little taller than I would like!

Really good looking rig, . The welds look good, but I’m no welder so I’m just judging them based on looks. I saw a guy that did a carrier coming off of the bumper like that, he had to put a plate on top, and on the inside, and a brace coming from the frame so it didn’t sag while it was swung out, I think it was on gmt400. I want to do one but it’s gonna be hard since I have barn doors. Looks good man I’m diggin it

I used 3/16th plate welded to the top and bottom of the bumper, also used 2x2 3/16th wall square tubing welded to the bumper, hitch and body for support!

Big fan of the 2 door Yukons/ Tahoes. I was curious on why the rack legs are that tall- would you not want the rack as close as possible to the roof?

You located in Scottsdale just north of Frank Lloyd Wright around 58th to 60th?

If so I've knocked on your door a couple times during auction weeks to see if your Tahoe was for sale as we stay 2 weeks at a house in the same neighborhood right around the corner.

The crossbars are less than 3/4" away from the highest point of the roof. Any lower and the rack would be touching the roof!
