'94 Dodge Ram, removing rear wall

I'm in the planning stages for a camper truck build. I'd like to remove the rear wall, to open it up to the camper. What kind of bracing will be necessary, compensate for the structural integrity the wall was giving?

If you keep the opening smallish instead of removing the entire back of the cab, a simple 1x1 steel framework outlining the cut section would probably be more than adequate. The biggest problem you'll have is building a waterproof system between the cab and the camper. I wouldn't connect the camper and cab in any structural fashion, as it will guarantee undue stress on both items due to frame flexing in any off road situation. Possibly a gasket made from Hypalon (think inflatable zodiac) which lines the pass-thru would be best. I'll be interested to see pictures.

Some folks limit the "chop" by removing the window only, while others cut a small walkthru in addition to removing the window. Examples of the later may be seen at http://www.earthroamer.com and http://www.tigermotorhomes.com. An interesting Dodge example may be seen at http://pacificexpeditioncampers.com.

Regardless of your choice, you'll want to keep the connection flexible as others have suggested. Please post pics of your build. I am very interested in your project.
