Hello :bike_rider:

I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Adam and I am a lover of all automobiles. Having owned many over the years, and many different types, I am currently balls deep in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. This is actually one of the last square XJs to roll off the assembly line in 1996. I usually preserve a clean bone stock vehicle I purchase, but this one was an exception with way too much potential. I am currently in Full Retard mode. :coffeedrink:

Ill shutup and just get going with it. Any questions feel free to ask. When i forget something, let me know.

Looks great! Would you say that the fox shox made much of a difference? I am on the fence about getting some big shocks for my XJ.

Very nice rig!

Would you do the whole knuckle/steering/brake thing again, is the passenger side knuckle stock? I've never been happy with the steering on my LJ, currently running Curry stuff, which is just bigger diameter tube but stock geometry.

All the work i did to the jhonny joints, flex joints, knuckles, changing binding angles, and replacing rubber everywhere...the fox's valved medium at 180psi makes all that work meek in comparison.
Still running stock gears? Seems like a lot of lift to just run 33's.
I have been unable to source 4.30s for a c8.25. i have a custom length cvds so im not swapping to a d44 until needed. at that point ill pop in the 4.30s but as it sits i get 18mpg avg...lift is needed for john bull, heartbreak, jhonson valley ect...

that is probably the cleanest 96 I've seen to date. Makes me reconsider a 96 as a trail rig...
why thank you very much. :) i try to keep her free of trail damage when possible, thats where the extra lift helps to keep me off the rocks that the 4.5" lift guys push out of the way for me hehehee

in a heartbeat. after the lift, its the single most important mod. needed along side a lift IMO. I tow a boat, drive it daily on the freeway over 80...toe change from an inverted Y is UNACCEPTABLE. Crossover steer feels like im driving a mack diesel.
Looks to me like he uses all of it for the terrain he goes wheeling in.:sombrero:
ayeeee:victory:

thanks for the positive comments guys! im out to go wax this heep!

Very nice looking Classic!

The spacers that you welded on the knuckles, were these done to run the XJ unit bearings and maintain the 5 on 4.5" pattern?

I know very little about the WJ swap but was thinking i'd like to do so on my ZJ build.

the spacers must be used with 2000 XJ unit bearings/hubs.
do the swap. you will love it again
This kid waxes his Jeep, ha! I did that once or twice back in 99 when I first bought mine.
hell yes i do, but im far from a child. ;)
what is this "waxing" thing you speak of?

its where you pull her pants down...wait:Wow1::drool:

And i got the Fox's all tuned. New oil, seals, & 180psi nitro. I actually needed 2 inches more of lift to center these so i tossed in these daystar isolators. Ive been thinking of ordering the JKS ACOS...

Love the steering setup. I have researched it, but never really knew exactly what parts are needed since I have a 99XJ and don't know if it has cast or composite rotors, thus affecting the hub choice.
