Phil's Adventure Tacoma

I have been progressing on my truck, I thought it would be a great time to start my own thread. I have never been brand loyal, but I seem to gravitate to Japanese companies. My first truck (hammy down) and the vehicle I learned to drive with was an 1988 Bare bones Nissan Hardbody that gave my family and I 14 years with only required maintenance. Then it was on to a 1995 Nissan Hardbody that only lasted 4 months until a drunk driver ran me off the road causing me to flip at 70mph. That was replaced with a 2002 Nissan Frontier. All these trucks gave me no problems, but in 2007 I decided to upgrade. First came the used 2005 4cyl Access Cab Tacoma. After a few days of driving it around, I decided the 4cyl was just not going to fit my needs. With some work I was able to step up to the same truck, but a 2007 V6.

The truck was bought at Lithia Toyota in Springfield, Oregon and was built in Fremont, CA with a build date of 4/07

Hey Dave,

Thanks for the comments and thanks for putting the ExPo link in your thread on TTORA. That is how I found my way here.

Steve is a great guy and does great work. You will be very happy with your bumper.

I can hardly wait to see it on my truck too:exclaim: Thanks for the support. I should be okay soon enough, but I am not one to sit around. There is a big world out there for my fiancée and I to explore:safari-rig:

Hi Phil truck is looking good. When you get to Conn. Look me up on NTC (NorthEast Toyota Crawlers). We hit the trails up here about 25 times a year all legal trails. If you need any info. about trails and stuff be happy to help you out. Bryan

Hope your back gets better soon.

The rig is looking good. It's fun to see another 07 Access Cab.

A couple questions. What Alcans do you have? Who are you going to get the front skid plate from? Do you have a current photo of the truck? Okay, more than a couple. Thanks.

Again, hope you feel better soon.

I had Alcan make them for me so they are made to suit my rig and weight requirements. I can not tell you much about them besides that they are an 8 leaf pack, but made with a larger arc then an off the self 8 leaf pack I believe. From following the progress of your rig I would say we have just about the same weight requirments.

I am not sure where I will get skid plates from.

I also got my Camburg 2.5's put in a few weeks ago. So far I am extremely happy.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, by the way.

Phil I have Budbuild front and mid skid plates on my truck well worth the investment in them. I Fabbed a third cross-member and transfer case skid plate. I"m covered from front bumper to about 8" past my transfer case now. Bud's skid are nice an sturdy and can handle the terrain up here in the N.E.

Lol, your way ahead of me, which is very good. I will have to check on shipping them. I don't think it would worth buying them if shipped.

^Budbuilt hasn't yet created a bolt-on skid for the 05+ Tacomas yet.:( I've seen a few guys with the Downey skid plate. Price is pretty good, and it's big and beefy for sure. The only negative I've heard is that there have been some fitament issues, since the plate is not specifically designed only for our trucks.

Streaker - very nice rig. I'm very excited to see that bumper installed - I didn't know CBI was making these for the 05+ generation.

I have no clue where I will get a front skid plate. I won't have any major purchases coming up do to recent and future life events. But we never know.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I will have a current photo up by next week when everything will be on.

Really looks nice. First saw your pictures on TTORA.
Can't wait to see the rear bumper, like everyone else!
How many inches of rear lift did you ask for on the Alcans? What did you end of getting?

Thanks
