A/C stuck on?

So I might just be being dumb but it seems like the a/c on my 2001 montero sport (3.5l) is stuck on. When the a/c button is disengaged I still get extremely cold air coming through the vents even when the a/c hasn't been used for days. So it seems to me like the a/c is for some reason always engaged. However, the small electric fan only kicks on when the button is engaged......Ideas? Ways to check this is actually happening? Fixes?

Oh and the dial is not turned to defrost it is turned to face only

I don't know how exactly these are set up but, you might have a bad realy that is staying on. A simple check in the fuse panel in the engine bay (or where ever there are relays.) if you find it switch it with another one and see if that helps. The only reason I can think the A/C would stay on even if the button was not engaged would be a clutch that is always engaged. might be a faulty compressor too but, sounds electrical.
