On May 15,16 of 2011 I explored the deserts and Pinyon/Juniper wilds near Montrose,CO looking for Claret Cup Cactus. Not a very wet winter/spring in the surrounding drylands so it is not a banner wildflower year but I found some good blooms though many have not fully flowered yet. I viewed hundreds of Claret Cup Cacti and here are a few of them. Fascinating cacti with many shapes and sizes.
