A day trip to Rhyolite

With another covid lock down looming just days away, I wanted to get out of Vegas so we headed out to Rhyolite. It's always an interesting stop when I'm in the area, although I usually head further north to Goldfield or Tonopah.

The Cook building would have been the tallest and most prestigious in town. They actually imported Italian tile for the stairs and some floors.

The train depot is iconic in its design and state of preservation. Three railroads serviced the town which is pretty amazing considering the town's location and population.

This is an older picture. This building burned down in 2014. Reports say that it was struck by lightning but I am not certain of the cause. Sad that it is lost.

We shot a video as well.
