A Jeep that might make someone switch brands

I don't see what all the hype is about this. There is another thread with all the Jeep concepts that are going to Moab and 99% of the people who posted loved this one. Anyone care to share whats so great other than the extra length/height?

What nobody is talking about is the cost of such a vehicle; Jeeps don't come cheap despite the lack of towing capacity, amenities, etc-this one would likely surpass even the prolific amount of 4 doors wandering around suburbs everywhere.

It's an interesting concept vehicle that shows some desire to answer niche demands, but past that I don't see why folks are losing their mind about it.

It has a diesel engine. The problem is that when you say, "diesel" in the US, everyone thinks of the 5.9 6BT cummins. Big. Strong. Bullet proof. Simple. The 2.8 is small. Low output. I guess it'll hold up, and full of computers.

This thing hits a home run in the "sit back and dream" category. Which makes it a great concept vehicle.

:sombrero: I agree, tha cost would probably be at least $55K-NEW- and I can't see it's favor here in the US-

The suspension won't handle those tires/fenders and the gas cans would ruin the fenders also-unless

It's strictly a Maller-

The unremovable top is a no-no for most the younger jeepers also-

The concept vehicle does nothing for me. but

I think maybe the European overlanders might likeit, because of the Diesel and overlanding caps-

The extra length on the Africa version would be great for storage and makes room for sleeping and a potential pick up platform??

How about one with a pop top roof or Land Rover style windows?

Honestly, I never understood the ridiculous premium that JKUs go for. The fact that this will likely go for 50K+, if ever produced, seems absolutely ridiculous.

The VM 2.8 is praised pretty highly on the internets of euro-spec Jeeps. Everyone says its the "best/most well built part" of the Jeeps. If Jeep did build this one, it would be a $50k truck, no doubt. That premium is what is keeping me from the brand. Personally, I'm waiting for the new Grand Waggy in 2017.

Sure, I like it...but is there really room to sleep two adults inside?

Are the suspension bits still the ultra-light looking stamped metal as the ones under the "plain old" jeep?

I think I'll stick with my regular old 109 thanks very much.

All the control arms are fully boxed now... And the stock brackets bend before the stock arms do... most of the time.

Howdy from Sweden

I really like the Afrika concept, but one thing I dont like at all is that it lacks the spare wheel on the back door, a real jeep has a cool spare wheel at the rear:sombrero:

Some say the JKU is expensive and it is, but here in Sweden the Jeep Wrangler unlimited is the cheapest real cool 4x4. Here a Landrover Defender 110 cost about 10 000 euro more than a Jeep Wrangler unlimited. In Europe we dont have landcruiser 70 series or Toyota frontrunner or fj-cruiser.

Some wrote above that the Afrika concept could be to small for two people sleeping.

In a standard 4 door wrangler You can sleep up to about 6 feet of body length. You can easely sleep 2 people in there.

Here is my interior in my 4 door

Where to put the stuff when sleeping, I bought this shelf for that, and stuff some gears at the front.

I like that the Afrika is higher, so you can have a roof net for more storage to the ceiling. I can have a roof net in my 4 door over the rear backseat, but long adults can not sit there then, but children can.

As the bars in the back in my former 2 door was paralel, so I had a roof net there for light stuff like sleeping bags etc but adults can not sit in the in the rear seat then.

My former 2 door wrangler with roof net (can not have this in my unlimited in the back because the bars have a slope in the rear)

I can also add that a Wrangler is 110cm wide at the floor in the back so You can sleep 2 people, in a Landrover Defender 110 the width is only 90cm, and that is to small for 2 people. But offcourse you can build or buy a raised sleeping platform in the defender so You can sleep 2 in the rear.
